About me
My name is Fin van Uum, 26 years old, and based in Voorburg, the Netherlands.
I founded Van Uum Academie & Consultancy out of a conviction that has guided my own life: with order, discipline, and personal responsibility, you can achieve almost any goal.
-
Along my own path — from academic study and research to policy work and sport — I noticed that loose advice or temporary motivation rarely lead to real progress.
What does work is a clear method: make ambition concrete, bring structure, and work consistently toward measurable results.
That approach has repeatedly helped me advance, so I decided to translate it into a framework — an academy and consultancy — that others can use to do the same. -
My academic journey began in Nijmegen, where I graduated cum laude in Psychology.
I then completed an MSc in Psychological Research at the University of Oxford (cum laude), followed by research in psychiatric epidemiology at the Erasmus Medical Center.
This background taught me to think rigorously, write clearly, and never lose sight of precision. -
Currently, I work as a Senior Policy Advisor at the Dutch Ministry of Defence.
My work focuses on labour conditions, strategy, and quantitative analysis — translating complex data into insights that inform real policy.
It’s where numbers meet decisions, and clarity meets responsibility. -
Sport has been my second school of life.
Through calisthenics and strength training, I learned that progress never comes from motivation alone — but from discipline.
Every session, every meal, every choice contributes not only to a stronger body, but also a stronger character. -
What drives people has fascinated me since my student days.
Thinkers like Nietzsche, Dostoevsky, and Scruton gave me language to reflect on human purpose, culture, and morality.
In my own life, I try to bring that balance into practice — by creating order in my work, training discipline in the gym, and bringing style into the small things: a well-cut suit, a clear workspace, a structured day. -
Whether in academia, policy, sport, or personal growth — the principle remains the same:
Structure + Responsibility = Results.
That’s why my method always follows one clear path:
intake → goal → timeline → subgoals → results.
No vague advice, no magic formulas — just a system I live by myself, and one I offer to anyone who seeks clarity, progress, and excellence.
